Question:
Thanks for the support.. dealing with abuse issues.

I have finally contacted a psychologist about dealing with abuse issues...and I have this site and everyone here to thank for pulling up the courage to call. I've been doing a ton of research lately and as I was searching the library (for the thousandth time), looking for more tidbits I could use, when something someone once told me popped into my head about weight gain at the onslaught of puberty is sometimes related to supressed traumatic memories subconcously manifesting themselves. I took the time to bookmark the posts and responses related to it and read some last night. I never before even really acknowledged I was sexually abused, but a few disturbing memories have surfaced since I moved out of my parents a few months ago. Just thanks everyone for the courage and I hope that I get through this all right!    — HeidiMc (posted on March 7, 2003)

Heidi - You've taken a very courageous step. Please remember to be gentle with yourself as you journey on this path of exploration and healing. If you ever need an understanding ear, please know you can email me. I've been where you are and know that this, like WLS, is not the easy path. But it is a very rewarding one. Take care and God's blessings be with you. Robin
