Hi there. On Nov.15th I had my consultation at BTC in Belviedere Illinois. I have BCBS Illinois. I was just wondering if someone with the same insurer & went to BTC Belviedre could let me the how long they had to wait for approval! Thanks! — Cindy D (posted on December 11, 2002)

Have you called BTC to verify that they have sent out your papers to the
insurance company? I had my consult with BTC on Oct 30 and called them
about two weeks later to find out what the status was and they told me I
needed to get more papers to them. I still wonder if I had not called
would anyone have bothered to call me to let me know this? My papers were
faxed over to BCBS of New Jersey on Dec 2, almost 2 weeks longer then what
BTC should have had them out by. And to this day I am still trying to get
them to give me a status, I cannot get the BTC insurance dept to return any
of my calls. They faxed my forms to a line only the provider can get
through to so I can not call BCBS directly for any information. My friend
that I work with had her consult more than a month after mine (diffrent
place) and they faxed her papers to BCBS on Dec 6 and she called yesterday
and was told to watch for her letter and she would not have any problems.
STAY ON BTC. Good luck.

Hey Cindy, this could be the time you learn what real patience is. I do
have Anthem Blue Access PPO which is also a division of BCBS and just had
surgery a week ago today (12/4) at Belvidere. I believe it is BTC who is
the slowest to act. Once the INS got all the info they needed to work
with, the file went into review, after 15 days of no word, then they put a
"rush" on it. Overall it was 24 and a half weeks from 1st
appointment to surgery. Check out my profile, I went into a lot of detail
about my journey with BTC and Anthem. Good luck in your quest!

I have BCBS of IL and was approved within 2 weeks. Most of the time the
hold up is in the Dr.s office. It takes them a while to get all the
paperwork done. I had an added problem, though. BCBS wasn't paying the
surgeon what they were supposed to pay for this surgery, so now all BCBS
patients have been put on hold until they get this resolved. I hope it is
resolved soon!!
