Question:
Any of Dr. Champion's patients need psych evaluations for BCBS-PPO?
***56 days and counting!!!I've heard (from other BCBS-Federal PPO's in GA) that I am going to be asked for a psych evaluation and to see a nutritionist before BCBS will even think about approving my surgery. I'm still praying that everything will fall in place, but sure could use some support right now. When I had my consult with Dr. Champion on 11/30/01, he told me that I didn't need one (and I quote his exact words..."in my professional opinion, you won't need a psychological evaluation"). I hope BCBS doesn't ask this right at the last minute. That would be a real let down. Any suggestions?? — yourdivaness (posted on July 10, 2002)

I am not one of his offical patients yet. I have sent in my package and
waiting to see. He has requested a release from my cardiologist. Do you
know he has his own web site and a yahoo message board just for his
patients?

Dr. Champion does not require a psych evaluation of his patients. However,
your insurance may require one anyway, simply because it is part of their
routine approval process. Contact BCBS and ask if this will be a
requirement for them. Then you can go ahead and make your appointment and
be ahead of the game. Good luck!
