Question:
What is dialiation?
Just wondering what a "dialation" is? Is it the same as dilation? — yourdivaness (posted on July 2, 2002)

According to my dictionary and my medical dictionary, there is no such word
as "dialation". The correct spelling is dilation, whis is the
enlargement or expansion of a hollow organ (such as a blood vessal) or
cavity.

Thanks, just as I thought. That's what my medical dictionary said as well.
Can't remember who, but someone earlier had posted a "dialation"
procedure. It's good to know that it's not a new procedure, just a
misspelling of the medical term-thanks again.

You may be thinking of "dilatation", which has the same
definition as dilation. Hugs, Joy

The correct term is dilitation. It means to stretch a narrowed opening.
It is done endoscopically to relieve a stricture in the anastamosis or
man-made opening at the outlet of the pouch which may become narrow due to
development of scar tissue.
It's a prety painless procedure that is done under IV conscious sedation in
an out-patient endoscopy department. You'll need to eat soft foods for 24
hrs then go back to your proteins and water.
Hoep this helps,
