Question:
This is Texas Rehab I am going through so What happens next?
I am going through Texas Rehab and I want to know what they will do next. I went to their doctor and he says yes I qualify so what does it say about what happens next with the Texas Rehab board. If you have had the Texas Rehab comm pay for your surgery what was your next step — [Anonymous] (posted on August 18, 2001)

Hi! When I initially started the process with the Texas Rehab it was in
November 2000. After speaking with the surgeon, the rehab set up
appointments with an Internal Medicine & a Psych eval/took approx. 2
months to get all done and the prelim apptmts in. After that, it went to
the local office for ok's-APPROVED in two weeks. Then went to regional
office. ALSO APPROVED in two weeks. After that I thot it was set. It went
then to the State Medical Advisor. He was on vacation when my paper work
was sent in. After he returned it took about 4 weeks for them to DENY!! I
did not have any previously medically supervised weight loss and he decided
that I had to do that in order for them to resubmit the application. I had
insurance coverage from my new job by that time and had it filed when I
found out about the denial. I have since been approved and waiting for my
surgery in Sept. Good Luck!!

I had to have approval from my primary Doc, the surgeon, I also had to see
an endrochronologist(sp)or internal medicine Doc and I also had to have a
psych evaluation. I had to have documented all of my diet history and then
all the paperwork was sent to Lubbock and Austin to be approved by 2
different boards. It took nearly a year to get the approval, but it
happend. Good Luck!

I am very interested in finding out how to go about getting Texas Rehab to
help with this type surgery. Can someone tell me where to start?
Thanks!
