Question:
I FOUGHT THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND WON!!!!!!!!!
I am in tears as I write this. First I want to thank all of you for your words of encouragment, support, constructive criticisms and concerns. I was denied coverage for my daughter because of her age...she is only 13. I fought and won...I had my daughter write a letter stating that she understood that this is a major life change and what her responsibilities are after surgery. I also had her psychologically evaluated and a report sent to the insurance company, I had her pediatrician send a letter documenting her years of struggle with this weight and I had her tested for sleep apnea, which thank God turns out to be negative. THEY APPROVED HER. I also found out that as of December 31st my company will no longer cover the surgery...so I sent the insurance company a certified letter stating that if we comply with all their request for medical necessity they will give us a conditional approval under the current contract not the new one. — MARY R.
