Question:
Has any1gained weight after starting on soft foods??

I am 3 weeks today post-op.Since I started soft foods I gained (2)lbs from last week. Was wondering if this was common? I have only lost 18lbs so far.I am getting all my proteins in and fluids.    — Katanew (posted on October 5, 2010)

I'm 4 weeks po. It could be ur body resetting itself. I started soft foods and my weight loss stopped. I've been on the same weight for a week and a half. I guess we just have to wait it out. The weight will come off one way or another.

What kind of stuff foods are you eating? Until I lost 75% of my weight I wasn't allowed carbs at all. The weight came off steadily for me and I must say I have to attribute it to what I was eating.

Be sure to avoid carbs or at least try not to eat all carbs, most people are still on liquids until the first month or month and a half. Write down what you are eating, you might be having foods that have carbs in them. At just 3 weeks post op, try to stick with liquids, like sugar free popcicles, broth, teas (sugar free), Crystal Lite, anything you can see through is considered a "Liquid". Your pouch is still tender, sore and still in the healing process. But if you are still going to eat soft foods, be sure it is mostly protein. (thinned down refried beans, cottage cheese, yogurt). But do let your pouch heal first is the best advise I can give anyone just three weeks out. Be in no hurry to eat the other phases of food, you want your pouch to heal in a timely manner, just no chips or anything with sharp rough edges on it for sure. Best wishes.

as long as you stick to protiens only your weight will come off. occasionally you will gain but stick with it and you will lose steady remember to stick with protien only such as 2 eggs for breakfast, yogurt for snack cottege cheese for lunch yogurt for snack and 2 eggs for supper and a protien pudding for snack. Eggs are scrambled with a spray nonstick. these are all soft and you will lose weight
