Question:
diagnosed diabetic and very hungry during pre-op liquid diet
During pre-admission testing I was diagnosed as diabetic. I didn't have any problems while I was eating regular food, but now that I am on the pre-op liquid diet I am starving and getting headaches and feeling weak. I cheated and ate chicken and rice last night and felt better immediately. What should I do? I don't want to continue to cheat. — kittymama03 (posted on September 15, 2010)

Extra liquid protein shakes should do the trick, if not I would call your
doctor. Good luck.

i am diabetic too. don't have a surgery date yet but thought no sense in
spendig the money if I can't handle the 2 week liquid so startedd it early.
spoke to my pcp. letting my blood sugars run a little high, 130-150. proti
diet soups are great! they are hot soups that fill you up. I don't know
about you but in the evening I want a hot meal not a cold shake. a friend
told me a little tomato juice in bouillon ( i added a splace of
worsteshire) another soup. hope this helps!
