Question:
I am doing the required 6 mo of weight watchers (pre op).
If i should happen to gain weight one week ,, even if it's only a half pound, is that going to disqualify me?? — linda H. (posted on September 9, 2010)

I don't know exactly what your program requires but my guess is that a one
week weight gain of a pound or less would not hurt you. They are looking
for progress in weight loss. MT suggestion is not to think of that and try
to avoid any weight gain. Good luck!

I am not sure what insurance you have. My insurance, Health Partners, the
six months I belonged to Curves and I gained and lost through out the whole
time I belonged to Curves. I think you will be okay. Good lucky.

Put in a good effort and you will be fine. If they feel you are not working
the program they may feel you are not ready to make the changes needed
after surgery. My doctors wanted a 10 percent weight loss prior to surgery.

The six month diet program is NOT about Losing or Gaining, it's to show the
Insurance company that since their putting out so much money on your behalf
that you will stick to the post-op program. Also you need to check with
your insurance company as mine & other's DO NOT accept just going to
Weight Watcher's. The require Monthly Documented Visits with your Primary
Doctor or Surgeon. Documenting in Your Medical Records of what your doing
to lose weight, what is your weight at each monthly visit, what your
changing to motivate yourself and how your feeling (like happy, depressed,
lonely, etc.) Your Primary Doctor will need to include these records with
his/her written Medical clearance letter just before your surgery date. The
doctor can't write this with just your Weight Watcher's weekly weigh-in.
Check so your not disappointed and then need to do another 6 months.

Michael is correct on what he said, I had to go to my primary care Dr once
a month for documentation and I had to do this for a year. In retrospect,
I am glad I had to wait, I became very informed and knowledgeable with this
operation.
Good luck!
