Question:
I love soup and am on the puree /soup phase 9 days out. Is it ok to puree a can of
chicken noodle soup in my blender and eat that? Is it ok to puree ministrone and eat that? Is there a no no in soup? — beanieweenie (posted on April 6, 2010)

I was told not to eat pasta. I would just drink the broth, I done vegetable
soup (ABC) in blender but just picked out the pasta, it can slow your
weight loss and can get stuck in your pouch. Best of Luck God Bless.

Hi! I would call my dr's office.... I know my surgeon said, I could if I
blended it and it went thru the strainer he gave me... at this stage the
little bit of pasta, blended, won't hurt you. But, again, check your diet
sheet/book from your surgeon's office, and when in doubt call them... they
truly don't mind the questions as they want you to succeed just as much as
you do! Welcome to the loser's bench!

no matter what surgery you had you shoudn't be having pasta (breads of any
kind) just broth or like the other gal said pureed veggie w/meat but you
must also watch your sodium. We can get dehydrated very easily - drink
plenty of water with it.

I'm 14 days out and thought the same question, but I stuck with the cream
soups. I did puree vegetable beef soup and it was good. My favorite though
was split pea, I would put it in the blender and it came out real creamy. I
added just a small dab of light sour cream and it was yummy. Good luck to
you. I'm now headed into the pureed/soft food phase. Baby food here I come!

I'm like you. I love soup and make all that I eat home made. I was told I
could Puree them as long as I strain them. My NUT also told me the boxed
pureed soups at the market or Trader Joe's would be good. If there are any
solids in them at all, you'll need to strain them. Good luck. I'm still
waiting for my date.

My surgeon told me I could puree chicken noodle soup, just scrape out any
solid pieces. He also said Minestrone would be good. Basically if it's
liquid enough to fit through a straw (although we should NOT use a straw
post op). I recommend Progresso Minestrone and I think it's also low
sodium. It's so flavorful and has a wonderful aroma for your senses! In
regards to are there any NO-No's with soup - stay away from the cream soups
which tend to be higher in fat. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

I pureed the campbells chunky soups that had a lot of meat (protein) and it
worked for me!
