Question:
Did I have the wrong surgery?
I am 6 months post op Lapband, have 7 cc's, lost 40#, but none for the past 2 months. I started on the 5 day pouch test yesterday and drank everything in the house, including 3 sugar free puddings in one sitting I was soooo hungry. I need help, I have no will power anymore. And feel like my food addiction is like it was before I had the surgery. Please help. Any and all suggestions will help. — cjjrn1 (posted on February 21, 2010)

I don't think anyone but you and your doctor can answer your question. I
am 15 weeks post RNY and the one thing I've learned is my food addition is
STILL a problem, and probably will be for the rest of my life. I have to
make a conscious decision every time I put something in my mouth to use
self control. It is hard, and frankly, it sucks. But it is what it is.
I'm determined. I'm sorry you are struggling so, and one thing I do know,
is you will find tons of support here. Use the board for support and talk
to your doctor or nut. Good luck to you!

Talk to your doctor. Everyone is different and no two people will lose the
same. I am 6 years out RNY and I still fight weight gain and loosing. Stay
focused. Note on Fridge:
Am I hungry or is it head hunger? Do not feed head hunger.

Hi
I also had Lapband surgery two years ago. It sounds like you need
a fill on your band. Don't get hungup on the number of CC's
it is to amount of restriction!! If you were able to drink and eat
what you said it is too loose. You say #40 - what % of your
start weight is this? I have lost 30% and have been able to
keep it off. I am told this is average for the Lapband it took
4 fills before I hit what they call the sweet spot. And have not
needed another fill for over a year now. Hang In there and
good luck.

You probably need a fill, but try to eat between 4 & 5 ounces at 1 time
and remember protein first that is what fills you. Hope this helps

Hi!
All I can tell you is that I did a ton of research before going with the
rny, I am a food addict.. chocolate was my drug of choice! when i found
out that i could still eat what i wanted with the lap band, i decided NO
WAY>>> i have no willpower.. obviously if I did , I wouldnt need
any surgery. I dont know what the 5 day pouch test is... but i can tell you
I am 6 months out(yesterday) and 101 pounds down. the addiction we all have
is the same no matter what the addiction is for. with rny you risk getting
very sick if you eat something your body cant handle,,, it was and still is
a huge deterrant.

I also have had the lapband surgery 2 mo ago, I have lost 42 lbs. I have a
total of 7cc's in my band, Today was my third fill, hopefully this will
work. Dr sd dont worry about the cc's, if I didnt feel restriction within 2
wks to come bk for another fill, until I hit that sweet spot, he told me if
I didnt have restriction I would gain bk the weight I had lost, so not
worry about the cc's. Also the nurse told me to eat breakfast instead of
protein shake if possible, then 2 hrs drink 4 oz shake, wait 2-3 hrs eat
lunch and then 2 hrs drink shake or bar. Try to have at least twice of this
protein shakes or bars a day in between meals, doc sd meals should be no
larger than your fist and if you can hold more then the band is not tight
enough. Don't go under 70 grms protein per day.Hope this helps.

I am 2 months post RNY bypass. My hunger is gone. I haven't felt hungary
since before the surgery. I eat cause I know I have too, but could go all
day without eating no problem. The feeling that I had a bottomless pit
inside me that I needed to fill it gone. Food actually is just a necessity
now such as going to the restroom and I like that I am limited with what I
can eat especially with sugar so it keeps me in check. I was only 235 and
everyone freked out when I had the surgery sonce I wasn't that big, but I
am happy with my choice. I considerednlapband at first, but figured I would
want to go all the way eventually and havenever looked back.

i had my surgery a little over 8 months ago. I have lost a total of 174lbs,
but do you know what? I still want all of the bad food that got me too
almost 400 lbs. You have to CHOOSE not to get that size again. Let me ask
you a question, is all of the pain, time, and expenses of the surgery going
to be worth it? answer that question honestly andd you will know what you
have to do.
