Question:
Gas????
Is there anything we can take for gas after having RNY surgery. I am 4 weeks out and can't seem to get rid of it. — cuppaloopy (posted on January 24, 2010)

For getting rid of gas, I take the Gas-X strips that dissolve on your
tongue. A couple of them really help. But if your talking about STINKY
gas.... I just found out(right here on this forum) about something called
DEVROM. It's an "over-the-counter" product that is specifically
for bariatric patients. You chew a couple tablets with your meals, and
it's supposed to be an "internal deoderant". I haven't noticed
it STOPPING the gas, but it sure helps with the stinky smell. I had to
special order it from my local grocery store pharmacy, but they had it in
within 2 days. Be aware, though, it's REALLY pricey!!! Think I paid $18
for a hundred pills!

gas pills and avoid artificial sugras when possible. They create gas and
diarrhea (sp)

gas-x chewables or strips work for the gas pains but the Devrom works great
for the smell. I order it directly from their site Devrom.com and it is
wonderful. I am no longer afraid to be out in public.

I have found digestive advantage work excellent with stopping gas, it a
little pricey but worth the money I keep a box around at all time. ex: took
one thirty minutes before going to the movies and before the movie was over
there was no evidence of having gas.

Gas X chewables seemed to work better for me than the strips, and DEVROM is
a lifesaver for the odor, I order it online
