I'm almost 4 weeks out. It takes me all day. The first week tho I
couldn't get it all in. It get easier. My NUT says to push the protein
instead of eating at this point. I probably only eat 1 to 2 oz of protien
a day. but I drink 74 oz of protien. And drink LOTS of water between.

Hi! At a week out it can take you anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a
half to drink one 16 oz drink. You have to sip..but you have to sip OFTEN.
Many people feel full and don't bother, but it is so important to get all
your fluids in and prtein drinks are part of that total. If it gags you,
(taste, thickness, etc) try a different drink. I had a hard time with the
artificial sweeteners and flavors in the protein I was using and found
unjury unflavored worked for me. I still use it to this day...15 months
out. Unjury.com
They also have a chicken broth flavor and the normal vanilla and choco and
strawberry. One months supply is about 33$ a month. Not bad ..and thats it
coming to your door. There are many out there so try another, if this is
the problem. Otherwise, just sip sip sip!! Best of luck to you and God
Bless! Hugs,kim Oh, and CONGRATS!!

For the first month, our surgeon and bariatric nurse both instructed us to
take about 20 minutes to drink an oz - very slow and CONSTANT sips.
Needless to say it took a long time to get down the protein drinks.
Gradually you are able to drink more, but your stomach is still very
swollen. But ask your surgeon - each one has different recommendations.

I can drink them down in like 10 mins 11oz with no problem. I called and
talked to a nurse at the Barix today and she just said everybody is
different but try and slow it down to at least a half an hour for a protein
shake.
Thanks to all who are responding I want to hear from as much people as I
can and get there input on this new adjustment

I use Unjury, also, and LOVE the vanilla. My instructions are to drink it
over at least a 1 hr period to give your body time to absorb it.

The first 3 mos it took me all day to get down a bottle of Isopure clear
whey...ALL THE OTHERS gave me incredible stomach aches between the lactose
and artifical sweeteners which I slowly became intolerant of as well...I
drank one Isopure with 40 gs of protein a day and ate every three hours
getting in 60 g's of protein daily...After 3 mos I was able to eat my
protein in real food alone and didn't touch protein supps for 4 years! I'm
6 years now and was using it in my coffee...but lately I have not used
protein supps at all...I can and do eat 100+ grams of protein daily without
supplements.
