Question:
motorcycle riding?
has anyone been riding since the lap band procedure , a family member of mine is concidering the lap band but wants to know if the vibes from the bike can make the band slip out of place? — vmidiri (posted on June 29, 2009)

I think that's a question for your surgeon, or at least A surgeon to
answer. I would imagine that the strong vibration COULD cause an issue,
but that's just me...and I could certainly be wrong.

The band is actually placed over the stomach and some remaining stomach is
then stretched over the band and stitched in place. But there is always
that chance of slippage with or without the motorcycle. Also it depends on
the size and make of the bike. The lap band isn't just placed over the
stomach and that is it. It needs some sort of anchor, so I hope this helps
with your answer. I have a picture of the the procedures comparison chart
in my profile in my pictures. If you need more info please email me.

I had lap band in 2003, been riding ever since. No problems whatsoever. My
band is stitched in place, I believe that most are. Have your friend ask
her doc to make sure.
