Question:
Anyone out there who had RNY and had slow weight loss
I'm 7.5 month post RNY. I've lost 55 pounds to date. The most weight I've lost since having the surgery in one month has been 7 pounds. On average I lose aprox 5 pounds a month. I'm following my nut program and exercising 6 days a week for 1 hour. Since I'm past my 6 months my fear is I'm not going to reach goal. I'm considered a light weight, started at 250 now 195. One good thing is I haven't had any problems, no hair loss or saggy skin. Anyone out there had weight loss this slow with RNY? — NicoleFranks (posted on March 25, 2009)

Losing the weight slower than you expect is fine. You are setting up good
eating patterns for life. You will continue to lose weight for at least a
year so you have lots of time yet. See if you are eating many carbs in your
foods and cut these down. Be sure you eat plenty of protien even more than
they say. It fills you up but helps you lose.
Be sure to do some weights in your work outs to build muscle. This will
help you lose inches faster. Great work on not having the sagging skin.
Keep it up.

Yes, I am a slow loser. I am 4 months and have lost only 40 lbs. I workout
3-4 days aweek. I eat and (drink) extra protein. More than enough water and
I am still losing slow. That's awesome that you haven't had hair loss as I
am just starting to. My blood labs are perfect and I never miss taking my
vits. I know what your feeling about the reaching goal thing...I worry
about time wasting in our honeymood period being a slow loser.

You yourself said you were a light weight because you're not terribly
overweight. Remember, the less you have to lose the slower it will be.
People who are hundreds of pounds overweight will loose faster. You've lost

I was considered a slow loser. I lost 2-3 lbs every few weeks. I am at goal
now...took 9 months. I started at 237..surgery day was 228 now at 127. Many
things affect the losing rates. Don't worry...As long as you are losing and
feel like the inches are coming off...its all good. getting dehydrated will
make losing come to a stand still. I got dehy- in 3 days and it took me 3
weeks to get rehy-. You won't lose if you are dehydrated. Also, not getting
enough calories..odd as that sounds ...will prevent loss. Your body will go
into starvation mode. at 7 months I was eating about 2-3 oz of food and
consuming about 700-900 caloried. Today..9 months out I eat 4 oz and about
900-1100 calories..trying to maintain. Have patience, but if you are really
concerned, keep on communicating with you Nutritionist. Best of luck to
you! hugs, kim

I am having slow weight loss. Had my first consult with my surgeon October
21, 2008 and weighed in at 286, lost 15 got down to 271. Had Gastric
Bypass on Jan 8 2009 and now today ..March 27, 2009, I weigh between
215-220 depends on what time of day I weigh myself. I feel like I should
be losing faster. I am not exercising but I have heard from some people
that do exercise they don't lose as fast either.
