it will show up when they do your pre-op blood gasses test- from the artery rather than the vein. Its not bad really, usually take from the wrist now, we used to take it from the groin, patients hated it, but that was a bazillion years ago, Cindi MD retired -230# 5yrs post-op

I had surgery on 12-2-2008. The doctors did a urine test on me... If you google nicotine urine testing it will tell you all about it...

Blood, urine, saliva and hair can all be tested for nicotine and metabolites.
