I had the VBG on Dec. 5th, 2007. I started losing immediately. You could
tell a big difference even just in the 2 weeks since surgery. I am now 120
lbs down and loving it!!

I had the gastric sleeve and lost 15 the first week, then it started
slowing down. At two months out I am down a total of 52 lbs - 15 of that
pre-op - so 37 lbs since surgery.

I had my bypass on Oct. 16 and a week later I'd lost about 4 lbs. At my
two-week follow-up I was 12 lbs down. It's different for everyone though
and sometimes takes a bit longer-- my sister had hers last week and was a
bit worried because she's gained weight. It's just because they pump you so
full of fluids and air, plus there's all that swelling.

I started losing almost immediately but stalled a couple of weeks out for
about a week or so. I had my RNY surgery Feb 2008 and I'm now down 93
pounds. It may not be as fast as others but one or two pounds a week is
better than I've ever done before. I occassionally stall for a week or so
here and there but it's usually because I'm not walking as much as I should
be. My goal is about a mile a day. Blessings to you.

Hi Constance... All of these numbers are impressive. It all depends on how
much weight you need to lose. I have around 100 pounds to lose... I had my
lapband surgery on 9/18/08 and so far have lost 22 pounds. I have to remind
myself (daily) that my weight loss will be slower since I have around 100
pounds to lose (the only time I have been considered a "light
weight") Good luck

I had RNY surgery on 3/3/08. In the first week I lost 20 lbs. At this
point it's all water. That's O.K. if your blood pressure is up at all.
Without meds. my BP was 200/100 before surgery. Within one week my BP was
back to normal at 120/80. For years I had had this weezing in my lungs
even though I was in good shape. That also went away. My lungs were
finally clear. After that 1st week I didn't loose anything for 2 weeks and
then I dropped 10 more lbs. By 6 weeks I had lost 40 lbs. At 3 mos. I was
down almost 60 lbs. It starts to slow down a little after that. At 5 mos.
I had lost 70 lbs., at 7 mos. I was down 80 lbs. and now at 8 1/2 mos. I'm
almost to a weight loss of 90 lbs. I have a total of about 150-170 lbs. to
loose. I'm 5'6" and weighed 300 lbs. I am now at 210 lbs. If you
weigh yourself more than once a week you will really get discouraged. It
will just seem like it's going soo slow. But just plug along because you
can't go anywhere but down with the amount of food you can eat at one time.
And sometimes after 6 mos. your weight loss my even stall. After I was
down 80 lbs. I didn't show any loss for almost 6 weeks. Sometimes your
body has to adjust and and these plateaus are going to happen. During my
plateau everyone kept telling me I looked like I was getting thinner, and I
actually went from a size 18 to a 16, so there really is some truth to the
saying you may not be showing any loss on the scale, but you're loosing
inches. Just hang in there and don't get so ancious. It will come off.
Good luck, Paula B
