Question:
I had surgery sept 26, 2008. I've only lost 18 lbs since I've been home. 8 prior to

surgery and 10 after. Its been 3 weeks and I've only been eating sugar free jello, pudding, soups and protein shakes. I started walking about 15 minutes this week. I haven't lost any weight in a week. Is that normal? I need to lose 80 more pounds. It will come off, right?    — lswitzer (posted on October 16, 2008)

YOUR WEIGHT LOSS WILL COME...everybody has peaks and valleys. you need to first get your metabolism going. keep walking, try to get it up to 30 mins per day. that will spark your metabolism and help get you started. make sure the protein powder you are using is not loaded with fat. some are too high in fat. ours is designed to help stimulate your metabolism contact me for more info 800 626 1022 or [email protected] good luck and keep up the good work

It takes some time for the weight loss to start kicking in....You should lose somewhere between 10 and 20 a month, but being somewhat of a light weight your loss will go a bit slower than some others....Give it time, once you are able to eat real food you will notice a big change in weight loss..

Be careful with the sugar free stuff - if it has sugar alchohols (sorbitol, glycot, mannitol etc.) it can give you really bad bloating and gas. If you only had to lose about 100 pounds you won't be one of those people that lose 50 pounds the first two months. I only have lost thirty in two months and my doctor said that was normal. It will work but remember to walk and walk and walk. Regards dear. Maggie

i really believe we all are so different. everyones story is alittle different. for me, i gained 9 lbs in the hospital. fluid they say. i really felt it in my chest when i'd try to do my walking. then i lost it!!!! dropped 35 lbs in a little over the next three weeks. however the last to i have been tring to get over the 40 mark. took over a week and here i am getting discussed not getting to 40 and 45. i know i am doing ok, how ever the first 35 dropped so fast that it has got me feeling disapointed. so han in there cause it does come off.... just when it wants to. not when we think it should ;) peggy r

Your body just went through a major new adjustment and trauma. Your stomach is still healing too. I am a month out and have lost 38 lbs so far, but this last week I have only lost 3 lbs out of that 38. That was frustrating, but at the same time, I know my body has to adjust to what is going on inside it now. Your only 3 weeks out, and typically the weight comes off in a 12 month to 18 month span. That is a very long time compared to 3 weeks. I know you want it gone and off, but give it time and you will be happy in the end when you have reached your goals. Congrats on your surgery and best of luck to you! :)

I only lost 11 pounds the first month, and that was actually lost in the first week, and then I just plateaued until I was switched from all protein shakes to soft foods, then the pounds started to come off at a rate of about 2 to 3 pounds a week. It went so much easier when I increased my walking to 1/2 hour every morning (2 miles). What I did when the weight was not moving was to take my body measurements, bust, waist, hip, thigh and upper arm. Then when I got discouraged, I took the measurements again and I was losing some inches! What that means is that I was losing fat and GAINING muscle! That is a very GOOD thing! Muscle is leaner than fat, so even though I weighed the same for a while there, I was losing dress sizes! So don't just look at the scales to determine if you are losing. Look at your measurements, and look at how your clothes are fitting. Be patient but diligent with your exercise routine and your eating choices. My body did so much better with losing once it knew it was not on a starvation diet from the protein shakes. When my carb (good carbs) and calorie intake increased, and my activity also increased, it started to burn the fat. Hope this helps you!
