Question:
when did you feel restriction in a 14 cc band?

does anyone have a 14 cc band with little or no restriction after three fairly large fills? i had my third fill yesterday for a total of 8.5 to 9 cc in band.last 1st fill i had was 3 cc (no real restriction) , fill 2cc (some restriction for about a week and half), 3rd fill 1.5 cc (expected a lot of restriction but ate a baked potato that nite after liquids all day and felt fine). i ate today all the turkey and some american cheese out of a wrap and felt fine. OOPs i tried to eat a few bites of boneless chicken as i started writing this question and have had to vomit 3 times already. do you think the last fill just kicked in? help!!!!!    — pamela P. I forgot to tell you the Dr said he put about 3 cc in the band at the time of surgery. 3+3+2+1.5= 8.5 to 9 cc according to the Dr because he says some stays in the tubing

I have a 14cc band and I felt restriction the first fill, my surgeon did not fill the band at the time of surgery because he wanted the stomach to heal and then do the fill. I had 2cc after the first six weeks and then two months later they added 1cc and my third fill which was 9-15-08 he added another 1cc and I have so much restriction. I have never vomited, but this time I have gotten nauseated (which, I tried to eat more than I should). My surgeon told me it could take 3-5 fills to get it right because everyone is different, so hang in there.

I suggest that you not try to push the limits - don't eat until you vomit, or even until you feel full. Eat until you feel comfortable.....

I have the 12 cc band, and don't need very much fluid at all to have restriction as everyone is different. I have never been able to tolerate more than 4.5 cc's but I have friends that have as much as 10 cc's. Everyone is different. I have been at this a little over 2 years now and realize the less you depend on restriction and the more you do the emotional work and eat protein and veggies, the better off you'll be. You are probably right, the fill probably did just kick in and hopefully you'll be comfortably snug. Why are you eating baked potato? Wrong kind of carbs. 70% protein, 30% veggies to keep your pouch full and stay satisfied for as long as possible. It does take a few fills and some trial and error to reach the elusive "sweet spot" with the LapBand so hang in there. Congrats on your WLS. Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC
