Question:
Vaginal Bleeding?
I am 1 week post op and after I urinate and clean myself I see some blood left in the paper toilette eventhough there is no blood in the urine (toilette). Is this normal? — jan_2008 (posted on April 30, 2008)

I was told that for some unknown reason, this surgery causes most women to
start their period. Actually most start during or immediately after
surgery. If it persists, or you become worried, call your primary doctor.
Congratulations on your surgery.

I think it's fairly normal for a woman to 'break through' after going
through a trauma like surgery. You should still call your PCP to be sure
though ... better safe than sorry!

J, it sounds to me like you might have a UTI (Urinary tract infection).
That happened to me once, and the only way I knew was bleeding from the
female area. Get checked out:) Thanks. Patricia P.

I sometimes get blood on the toilet paper. It feels as if I've wiped away
a top layer of skin. Not sure if you are experiencing the same... not sure
how to resolve it for myself.

sometimes there is bleeding after they take out the catheter after surgery.
To be on the safe side, I would contact your PCP. You never know, it
could be a UTI.
Good luck,
Peggy

You need to contact your doctor with any site of blood if its not your
cycle time. Cover yourself by contacting your doctor.

I am one week out today from laparoscopic RNY. I started my period today,
2 weeks early! My Dr. said not to worry, it happens to some women...if next
month isn't on schedule, then he will become concerned but as for now...
