There may be foods that you can't do permanently. I'm a little newer than
you, but I can't do pork, beef, or most kinds of chicken. I pretty much
live on fish, eggs and shellfish. I do try these foods every so often, but
so far, no go. Keep trying every once in a while to see if the foods you
weren't able to tolerate are now tolerable. But remember, it is possible
you just won't be able to handle these foods anymore.

Yea, I know the feeling. I am 4 years post op and meat just doesn't agree
with me. Sometimes one bite will stay down just to stop the craving, but
it doesn't stay in my pouch either. Just make sure your getting your
protein another way. Profect is so perfect, 25g in one sip with very
little calories. Just be careful with the calories in your protein extras.

You might want to try protein capsules. No nausea, no bloating, no taste
issues. They're called Capsul-Pro and you can buy them at
www.nashuanutrition.com Good luck!

I am 2 years out from RNY and I am still not able to eat those things
either. I had my stomach dilated lasted month, it healed shut, hoping that
it would help but still no go. May just need to get used to no meat. I can
occasionally eat ground meats if I chew well and drink water with it.

I have found that if I combine chicken with something moist- it will go
down. I make zucchini every weekend ( onion, garlic, zucchini, stewed
tomatoes, a little olive oil- cook in skillet until soft) and eat it with
chicken, fish, turkey, and it goes down, if I take toddler sized bites.
Havent had much luck with beef unless its ground. Made outrageously good
turkey chili yesterday( ground turkey, onion, garlic, yellow pepper, chili
seasoning from packet, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans) went
right down. Good luck! - Marlayna

You need protein sources very much, as well as a variety of veggies and
fruits. Go to www.whfoods.com and check and find the list of protein
enriched foods. They have a list of 55 of the most protein dense foods
around--fish, meat, veggies, nuts, and probably foods you didn't even know
had protein. DAVE

I had a hard time with beef, heavy pasta, green beans and cereals. Take
your time. Just because you cant eat it now doesnt mean you wont ever be
able to eat it. When you try steak try a filet or a porterhouse. Cook a pot
roast so it is very tender.

I am 2 1/2 years post op and I still can't eat meats. I can handle some
chicken and turkey. For the other meats, when I want to eat them I just
chew-chew-chew--and then spit them out. Hang in there--some people just
can eat more than others!!

I did gastric bypass on Setember 10 of last year, and have the same
problem. sometimes even eggs won't stay down. I fixed myself part of a
tenderloin steak the other day, cooked just perfectly, slowly ate 3 bites,
and was sick for 3 hours. The rest of the steak went into the soup pot! I
have found that I can eat a little meat in soup. I am learning to really
think about how I feel before I eat something that might cause me
difficulty. Made meatballs the other day with ground beef, lots of grated
parmesan and wheat bread soaked in milk to soften. They were soft and I
was able to eat 1 small meatball and froze the rest in individual packets.

I had to blend meats with Broth to make a pastethen I did a little less
broth until I was able to get it to just finly chopped in the food
processor without broth, from there I am slowly learing how to chew 40 or
50 times before I swallow meats. Chick is still tough to take more than
about three bits of, so I went back to chopping it, but steak and other
types of beef seem to go down much better now. You got to get use to it a
little at a time. Don't just try something, get ill and quit. You need
that protein.

Fret not -- it just may take longer than for some. I find that chicken
digest better than beef now -- although I'm not at Chik Filet -- I eat mo
chicken. Fish -- allergic. Just take your time in trying to get back to
eating meats. For months I would find myself eating salads or chili. Now
I get about one or two salads in a week -- probably should do more. But I
don't think there is a "should" in this process -- what you think
you should be able to eat and digest your stomach might not be ready for it
yet. So just take your time and experiment with various foods and
something will hit home. Good luck

Hey Sharon! Get with your doctor or your nutritionist. Also join a
support group. You need your protein and something is wrong if you can't
eat any solid food at six months. Get some help and hang in there. Pat
