Has anyone had the LapBand and within a week or week in a half just couldnt take it

It seems weird, but I totally understand. If you have had difficulty with
obesity, you certainly have food issues. I had WLS August 13th. The surgery
did not change my obsession with food. When the doctors tell you the band
or other WLS are only tools, they mean it. No joke. I ate chicken svereal
days before my 1 month postop. I didn't suffer, but I was uncomfortable. It
comes down to, do you want to be healthy and what are you willing to do to
make this TOOL help. Check your mental health to find out what you need to
do to recondition years of habits. Read motivational books, see a
therapist, use your entire arsenal. Your feelings are normal and just like
any diet or major life change it takes strenth, good choices and will
power. We are a lot like any other recovering addict- the difference is we
need food for energy.

I have the lap band. No, I did not eat a week later, I do recall (it's
been almost five years for me) that I did move to soups at about three
weeks out. Even that was hard on my stomach. Please be careful. Eating
too soon can cause the band to slip. You do not want your band to slip.
Take care,
Vicki

I had lap band August 17th and after a week I called my nut and asked her
if I could have anything (applesauce, cottage cheese) and because I have
the new more flexible band it was ok to start soft foods a week after
instead of two. I still drank my shakes but also added a very small amount
of cottage cheese. Call your Dr and/or Nutrionist to be on the safe side.
