Hi, Yes, yes and Yes! 5 years ago I had my RNY I have done very well
physically, emotionally it has been rough. I already had severe depression
and anxiety before surgery which was being treated and it did get worse. I
needed a medication change and definatly to see my psychatrist and
psychologist more often. I would suggest that you not wait and seek help.
Some of these changes can be hormonal. I'm not sure how much weight you
have lost or when your surgery was. But most people will tell you there is
a time after surgery that when they cannot use food as comfort, as we have
done most of our lives that some depression and anxiety can set it and it
just depends on the person as to the severity of it. Mine was tough and
still is..however, I never regret my decision and am happy and confident I
have made the right decision. At least I'm here to feel these things. I
personally do not think I had a life left without WLS. Best to you and
there is a lot of help out there for both symptoms. Email personally
anytime you wish.

I have anixiety & depression before my surgery as well & have been
treating them with medication by my psychiatrist & therapist. If you
don't already have a therapist I would suggest you get one & fast so
that he/she can help you with what you are feeling. Like the other lady
said remember we used to use food as a way of comfort & to block those
anxiety feelings but food can no longer be your comfort blocking tool. I
don't know how far out you are of your surgery but mine was done on the
29th of September & I have never regretted my decision to have it done.
However anxiety & depression can be very powerful.....please do get it
treated & soon. Good luck & warm blessings, Phyllis S.
