Question:
does anyone know of an obgyn in nw houston for post ops
I am almost 2 years post op and would like to have a second child. The dr. told me that i am considered high risk and would have trouble finding a obgyn that would accept me. Anyone know one in the area? — jorene1675 (posted on August 14, 2006)

Hey,
I'm not sure as to why you were told you are high risk, unless it is
somthing unrelated to the surgery. I am 29 and got pregnant 3 months post
op. I am currently almots 6 months preggy and all is fine. The baby gets
everything he/she needs and this has by FAR been the easiest pregnancy I
have ever had. Baby is growing just right and all is good. there is an
AWESOME post op pregnancy forum on here where you can talk to lots of
ladies that are currently pregnant or hav already had their babies.

If you're having had gastric bypass surgery is the only reason the dr. said
you are high risk, then that's ridiculous!!! Having lost weight makes you a
better risk! Better risk that you won't get gestational diabetes, or high
blood pressure. I had 2 kids overweight, and then 1 when I was only 8
months out of surgery. That one was the easiest. I didn't even feel
pregnant, and I continued to lost weight at that time. The issue I ran into
most often was that dr.s and obgyn's don't know much about the surgery so
they get worried about nothing. Especially at 2 years out you are able to
eat enough for the baby to grow normally. I ended up teaching my dr's
about the surgery. Get info. off the internet about pregnancy after
surgery and take it to the dr, there's a lot of good info out there. And
be sure to let them know if you do get pregnant that you are not to do the
glucose test. We are not supposed to have that much sugar! Good luck to
you!
