Question:
Can't seem to burp!!!
I'am 6 days out since surgery for a lap-band and so frustrated with not being able to burp. I can feel it come up, but just won't. — rozzie (posted on January 22, 2006)

Roseanne, I am 9 months out and I still rarely burp. It is annoying when
you feel the need and can't but the losses are more than well worth it.

Did your surgeon tell you to purchase something for gas? If not, you may
want to purchase something chewable. My partner's surgeon had her purchase
the Flintsonte chewables and some type of chewable antiacids.

be thankful the alternative would be gerd, u dont want that, it is a common
side affect of the band, and rny, one reason i cannot have either as i
already had barrettes, the worst of the gerd family short cancer

Hello, I am going on 2 years post op. It may help if you try to walk more
often. That way it tries to come out the mouth or through the butt, but it
would feel a lot better once it is expelled out of the body.

You're only six days out and your stomach is still swollen and irritable
from being banded. I couldn't burb either at first, but it came with
time. At first it was difficult, but finally I am now able (just over 2
months out) to belch quite nicely - tho not as loudly as before banding..

I just had RNY on the 23rd and i have the same problem. It is really
annoying. I find that when i walk and breath in deeply through my nose and
out through my mouth it helps me to burp. Good luck!
