First, I think you probably ate too much. And you cannot drink when you
eat. I'm 7 months post-op and I still cannot drink when I eat. The other
day I had 3 McDonalds french fries and a sip of a drink and threw up. It
is pertinent to remember not to do this-wait 15 minutes to drink. Don't
feel bad. We have to do some trial and error before we get it right.

You don't mention how far post-op you are, so I'm assuming you are very
recently post-op. One thing I have found out is to NEVER drink when
something is stuck. The water tends to just sit on top of what already is
in your pouch and causes a very heavy, uncomfortable feeling. Obviously it
lasts until whatever is stuck, passes through the new opening. Throwing up
does'nt necessarily dislodge whatever is stuck though. Just don't eat
anything else until it passes through. Should'nt take more than a few hours
at the longest, as it would most likely dissolve. Good Luck!

My husband had trouble with lettuce, too. I guess he didn't chew it well
enough because it seemed to sort of float down and cover the outlet, much
like a washcloth in a bathtub. SOMETIMES tipping over on your left side
can cause you to burp and the offending object will dislodge. But you need
to do it right away for it to work at all. You're still in the learning
curve, so you'll learn to recognize the red alert symptoms really soon and
either tip or hurl pretty fast. And we all perfect our technique! LOL!
