Question:

I am interested in wls and I'm currently taking "coudine" (Blood thinner)for my blood clots in the leg. I also have a "Prolap valve". Will this prevent me from having the surgery? — [Anonymous] (posted on August 18, 1999)

Coumadin is an anticoagulant used to prevent blood clots. You have
to be off the coumadin for 3 days prior to the surgery. Your doctor
may put you on heparin to prevent the blood clots. Coumadin is not
an absolute contraindication to surgery
