Question:
How can you prevent losing too much weight or is it something you can help.

Im really concerned about losing too much weight. I understand that the experience is very individual but is there any way for you to halt weight loss if you reach your goal but continue to lose. Also, my goal weight is more than the chart weight for my height.    — T. Preston (posted on December 4, 2009)

My understanding is that it is very common to initially lose a little more weight than planned but then you put a little more weight back on and balance out. After that you have to work on maintaining your goal weight to avoid not putting on too much weight. Best success. Janell C.

Very few people have a problem with losing too much weight. It can be a problem but usually just increasing your calories will stop it.

If you want to maintain your weight, you need to maintain your calorie intake. So if you were taking in 600-900 calories and you are at your goal weight, then it is time for you to bump up your calories to 1000-1200. I have maintained my weight for almost 5 yrs RNY I do snack on healthy items (somewhat), but I wouldn't be able to maintain the weight at 138 lbs, if I didn't. I do eat regular meals, breakfast, lunch, dinner, small of course, but I can't sit and eat with all those meals together would ever be 1200 calories. So I snack. Which helps me. I know some will say don't snack, but I think it has to do with what your starting weight was and what not. I started at 230 and now weight 138 lbs. I asked my doctor what to do to maintain and he told me to bump up either my protein, carbs, or calories. So I hope this helps.

I have a problem maintaining my weight too. When I lose 5 pounds, I start drinking boost and protein bars. I have lost 140#, from a size 22-6. May goal was a size 10. People tell me i look sick when I am in a six. I eat to live.
