Question:
Sagging skin

My face is sagging after losing 120 lbs in 19 months. Did anyone have their face sag, and tighten back up after stabilizing? I feel like I look so old right now:(    — lesleigh07 (posted on July 10, 2009)

I've only lost 80 pounds thus far, but can already see that I'm going to have some loose skin along my jawline. I hear that this is common, and that over time the skin will shrink back up (to varying degrees.) I've decided that even if I do end up with a lot of loose skin, it's still SOOO worth it to have the weight off me. I'm feeling so much better, already. Here's hoping that we both have the elasticity in our skin that we need to shrink us back up! LOL Good luck and God bless you!

You are beautiful and sexy, girl!! I just sent you my saggy face photos from 4 years ago at the end of my weight loss. And the few years later til now to show you how my face tightened significantly! I'm getting older, but I think I looked older at 40 than I do at 45! It took 2 years for my face and body to shift and tighten...It was weird how things just suddenly began to move and change! I did gain 8 lbs...but much of that is muscle that I had lost in my legs arms and rear...The skin itself is just tighter! And the "meat" (muscle) filled back in around the bones ...I cannot explain it...It just happened AFTER rapid weight loss stopped (year 2) and my weight stabilized. I also stopped letting my face get sun...I use sunblock religiously now as you can see from the pale ghost-like face I have now! LOL

I'm no medical expert, but sagging skin is also associated with aging. The electicity is not as it was when you are younger. On the good note, consult a dermatologist. This is not paid for my health insurance since it is cosmetic, but their are fillers, that plump the skin back up along with the botox fillers. Give it some thought.

I'm 57 and have lost 91 lbs since March 2. My face started sagging so I started doing the facial exercises in Carole Maggio's book, Facercise. It works on the underlying muscles and is noticable pretty quickly! It's great for wrinkles, too. Probably still will have a little bit of sag in the skin, but hey, we have to have a badge of honor for all we've been through, right? Here's to putting your best face foreward!
