Question:
Is this normal?

ok I know this is kinda personal, but i had my period one week before surgery, now I am one week post surgery and I started spotting last night.... anyone else have this problem or know if its normal?    — callen3640 (posted on June 25, 2009)

I had the same thing happen to me. I always get my period when I am in the hospital! I got it again 20 days after I got out of the hospital. I am sure it is because of the stress and shock your body goes through having surgery. I am sure it will get regular again.

The nurse at my center said it's totally normal w/any stomach surgery.

I got my period 2 days after having a c-section.

I was in menopause and hadn't had a period in 9 months - I started a period 2 days before surgery! It last about 2 days post-op, then a week later another one. I am 9 months post op now, and although I had 2 more period after surgery, I am about 7 months without one again (thank goodness!). The nurses said this is so-o-o-o common - I really think they should list it as one of the side effects of having this surgery! LOL
