I started eating salads again after 2 months. But I eat ceasar salad which is mostly spinach instead of lettuce. It's easier for me to digest.

At six weeks I started eating salad. However, I can not handle dressing with vinger in it. Make sure you chew completely or you will have a problem with food getting stuck. Also, eat it very slowly but enjoy. Lisa

yes, you should be able to eat salad again. I'm about 8 months out and I eat everything...just small quantities. I have no problem with anything. However, everyone is different. You'll just have to give it a try and see how it goes down.

I had a hard time with raw veggies til about 3 months. (It just burned and ached) ....Couldn't eat onions for over a year...tomatoes, somewhere in between. And vinegar was a little hard too for a while.....Just try a little and see how you feel...Eventually you'll have back a semi-iron gut again, that can handle all those things! I can eat anything now...Good luck...

Hi, Kim! Of course, you will eat salad again, sweetie. My RNY doctor said no salad for the first three months. I missed it so much, even more than donuts! I thought that three months would never pass! Now I eat big salads most every day. I know it seems like this will go on forever, but you will begin to add a wider variety of foods back into your life. It took eight months before I was able to digest chicken, another tough one for us. Little by little, I could begin to enjoy different things. You will, too. The only things I NEVER added back into my program were liquor, carbonated beverages, fried foods, rice, pork and refined sugar. I would be lying if I said I don't miss those things, but I have replaced them with good protein, fresh veggies and fruit, whole grains, legumes and a whole new way of life. It was worth the trade-off. Be patient, dear one, for the time will pass before you know it. Trying too much roughage too soon could hurt your new tummy. You are still healing, though it may not feel like it. I know I am making this overly simplistic, but your new tool is too precious to mess with. You can do it, Kim, You have come so far already. Wishing you all the very best, Pam

I am nearing a year out and am still not able to eat lettuce. I can tolerate fresh spinach okay. I still can't eat most raw veggies, and couldn't tolerate cooked veggies until about 2 months ago. Hang in there!
