I start work at 2am to 1230 pm 4-10s. i walk every day at work on my breaks, work out on the elipical machine at home, but i see the same person in the mirror. granted I would do it alover again if I had to. just to be healthy. ..Please help I am desperate. — zydeko47 (posted on August 26, 2008)

I went through the same doubts as you; wondering if the surgery
"wasn't working"..... Your weight loss will, at times, speed up,
and at times, slow down, and sometimes it will stop altogether for a week
or 2 or 3, then start back up again, so do not worry. What to look forward
to is the *end result* and that will be a significant weight loss!! Just
think of how much you'll have lost by your 1 year surgery anniversary!!!
People lose weight for about a year or more with this surgery, so you have
much more weight you'll lose by then! Try not to weigh yourself daily; pick
the scale up and keep it in the closet so you won't walk past it. 54 pounds
since April is excellent and "right on track". Best wishes

I don't know about others losing 100 pounds in 6 months. I lost 100 in 9
months. Looks like you are right on target with your weight loss to me.
You're doing great! Staying positive right now is really important to your
sucess. You're on your way!

Hi..I still see the same person in the mirror as I always have and I have
lost 140 pounds!! Check out my profile...it's only been 4 months for
you...you are truly doing just fine...the weight will come off especially
since you seem to be doing everything right. More importantly, you are
heading for permanent weight loss...if you lost another 20 pounds in the
next 4 months, you'll be down 75, and then another 15 and another 10....it
adds up! Set really small goals and next thing you know, you will have lost
a lot of weight! Kristi

It doesn't matter how fast a person loses their weight. We don't all start
out the same height, weight, or medical problems either. We have different
metabolism and our bodies handle stress and starvation differently. You
cannot compare yourself to a time and number. You just cannot do it.
Don't be depressed...You'll get there, but you really do have to wait a
year. Keep looking forward and continue your hard work and you'll be so
happy when your year is over! Many of us even continue to lose for a while
after!

It sounds like you are doing the right things, eating lots of protein and
getting in a lot of exercise. I would have to imagine that you are also
developing lots of muscle which is heavy.
We are in this for the long haul, my weight loss has been slower than I'd
like so I have developed a new way of thinking about it.... it doesn't
matter how quickly I get there, just that I get there.
When there are times when I don't see the scale moving and I think I'm
doing everything right, I start tracking things and check into the numbers.
Every time I have found after a few days or a week or so that I had eaten
too much sodium or too many carbs or something that I wasn't aware of.
Might be something to try.
Does your doctor's office have the kind of scale that tells how much of
your weight it fat, water, bones and muscle, etc? I find it very helpful
when I am frustrated and weigh in and he says "well, I can tell you've
been eating well as you've lost 3# of fat, but you've gained 2# of water
and 1# of muscle". It helps to know that information. You can buy
those kinds of scales as well. I just don't like to weigh as often as most
though.
Please, try to keep a positive attitude.... it plays a big part in our
success. You have lost a lot of weight, if you were to go to the grocery
and pick of 5-6 10# bags of dog food, you would realize just how much of an
accomplishment you have made. Hang in there and keep plugging away... one
meal, one day at a time. Keep doing the right things and good things will
come.
Good luck,
Dawn

Count your calories! If you are using the small bullets they are probably
around 80-90 calories each. Multiply that by 5 or 6 and you get 400 to 540
extra calories per day. Now add in all the rest and you might (I said
might here) be taking in more calories than you think. If you move it to
the large bullets you would be 850 - 1530 calories per day. Just a
thought.
