Question:
I've tried what others have suggested and still can't seem to drop weight
I had RNY in June and I've lost 46 lbs. but it has been 6 wks since I've lost any. I increased my protein and started drinking the "NEWWHEY" bullets I've increased water (not getting in 64 to 80 oz. yet) I walk 2 miles a day at work or more then I walk at home 1/2 hour to 45 min. My weight was 233 when I walked out of the hospital now I'm down to 187, I feel great but I see others that have lost 100 lbs. or more by 6 months. Everyone says it will just fall off... or the scales will start to move again... WHEN??? I'm getting very frustrated and wonder if the surgery was worh it... — * S. (posted on August 26, 2008)

I don't see where the problem is. You are already down nearly 50 pounds in
6 weeks, how can you say you are not loosing??? That sounds like it is
coming off to me. This isn't an overnight process. You just have to keep at
it and yes you will lose, as long as you are doing the right things.
Everyone hits plateus from time to time though anytime the pounds aren't
changing the inches are.

I had my RNY in June as well. I am down 43 pounds. I too thought I should
have lost more I seen people lose more too. I went in for my 2 month post
op appt. Doc said because I am considered a light weight I started at 210 I
would lose slowly. At 2 weeks out I stoped losing for about 2 weeks. It
just picked up again. You are doing everything you are supposed to let your
body catch up and you will start to lose again!

Your a light weight. You've lost a LOT of weight. You will continue to
lose at a slower rate, but take pictures and measurements. My weight has
been at a stall for two months, and I have still lost inches. (8 months
out) I lost alot the first 3-4 months then it slowed down a bit. Keep
doing what you are doing, you body will lose the battle! Keep up the good
work and be proud of what you have accomplished! When is the last time you
lost that much weight in 3 months? Good luck!

Congratulations on your surgery!
I went through the same doubts as you; wondering if the surgery
"wasn't working"..... Your weight loss will, at times, speed up,
and at times, slow down, and sometimes it will stop altogether for a week
or 2 or 3, then start back up again, so do not worry. What to look forward
to is the *end result* and that will be a significant weight loss!! Just
think of how much you'll have lost by your 1 year surgery anniversary!!!
People lose weight for about a year or more with this surgery, so you have
much more weight you'll lose by then! Try not to weigh yourself daily; pick
the scale up and keep it in the closet so you won't walk past it. I think
46 pounds since June is excellent and "right on track". Best
wishes

The less you have to lose the slower it comes off so you are way ahead of
the game.........practice patience.....if someone weighed 310 then they are
going to drop way faster than you and you really don't want to lose too
quickly.....you start weight is not that high.

It takes the average RNYer a year to lose 100lbs . Some who have more to
lose will most likely lose faster. You are about 3 mos out and already
lost almost half...You are doing fine! You can't determine if a recipe is
good until you cook it til it's done. If you pull a prize winning roasted
chicken out of the oven 1/3 of the way cooked, it's not going to win any
prizes! Give yourself a year...and continue doing what you are doing,
because you are doing GREAT!

Make sure you get in ALL of your water. It is not optional...it is
essential, particularly with exercising. I struggle with this as far as not
feeling like drinking any more; but, I do not go to bed each night until I
have gotte in a min. of 64 ounces.
