Question:
I'm just starting on soft foods today. Any suggestions other than eggs, yogurt, and
cottage cheese for high protein? — dnoreenh (posted on July 21, 2008)

refried beans with cheese melted on it. My favorite if I didnt make my own
was pintos and cheese with extra sauce from Taco bell.

I have not had surgery yet. Will be in the very near future. Just waiting
on insurance approval and will know by the end of this week at the latest.
Anyways, I have been doing some research to prepare myself for my food
phases and if you go to the "Recipe" forum here on OH, there are
tons of ideas and recipes. You might want to check that out if you
haven't already. Best of luck to you! :)

Peanut butter, soy beans, as stated before the refried beans. I did the
blender thing & made natural smoothies - fresh fruit & a little
water & ice. If you get your protein powder unflavored, you can add it
to the smoothie
Best of luck to you.

Hello Friend,
Hummus is a wonderful source of protein, low in fat. 20 gms per 4 ozs. and
it is yummy!

homemade egg custard is awesome-and you can add a scoop of Any Whey
unflavored protein powder that is designed for cooking. Pureed beans of any
kind are great-just add some broth to thin it out, a little seasoning to
meet your taste and blend it up!

Try ricotta cheese with spaghetti sauce on top. Some shredded mozzarella
mixed into the ricotta is great too. I second the egg custard!

Soft foods include ground chicken, trukey and meat cooked with a little fat
free gravy. Fish like tuna. and flakey fish baked. Mashed or baked
potatoes with reduced fat sour cream and ceddar cheese. Cooked cereals,
canned or cooked fruits w/o skins and vegtables cooked soft w/o skin or
seeds. there's alot to pick from. Good luck! Lisa
