Question:
IF YOU HAVE HAD SURGERY WITH DR. JAWAD (LAP RNY)? PLEASE HELP.

WHAT DID YOU HAVE TO HAVE TO BRING TO THE HOSPITAL WITH YOU? WHAT DO I NEED TO HAVE FOR WHEN I COME HOME? HOW LONG WAS YOUR HOSPITAL STAY? WHEN IS YOUR FOLLOW UP VISIT AFTER YOU LEAVE THE HOSPITAL?    — latreshar (posted on June 16, 2008)

On this page is bariatric surgeon and look for Dr. Jawad, he has patient reviews, and a website for him. I was told to bring houseshoes, robe, cpap machine, if you have one, comfortable clothes to go home in, chap stick (your lips get dried out), the surgeons have different days, mine said overnight, liquid vitamins, soups, SF popsicles, SF puddings, your liquid pain meds, broth (chicken, beef, vegetable) the follow up visit is usually within two weeks.

ok I would only bring your tooth brush clean underclothes and something baggy to wear home. They gave me socks to wear when I was up walking and I never got to put on my night gown had to keep the hospital gown on. For the ride home and while in the hospital I would bring a soft pillow or stuffed animal to hold over your stomach it helps with bumps or coughing . When I got home I needed to make sure I had the right foods to eat or drink as the case is. You will get a list at your preop appointment. I was there over night got to go home around 3 or 4 in the afternoon the day after the surgery. Your follow will depend on what day your surgery is I had mine on the Monday after my surgery. Surgery was also on Monday. Don't worry yourself over these details like I said when you go to your pre-op appointment they go over so much with you and also give you a dvd so you can watch it if you forget anything. Hope this helps Cheryl

Congrats on your date! It will go by very quickly. The only thing I would add is I brought my binder with me. All the info they give you I put in a binder with dividers (Exercise, diet, post op, etc) They will give you exercises to do in the hospital, you wont remember them, so I had everything there to go over and over. The info about the "g" tube is in the handouts and you will attend a class before your released on using it and they will make you drain it. I also had surgery on a Monday was released on Wed, (low blood pressure problems), had my follow up the next Monday, went back to work Tuesday. Your in great hands, try not to worry (it is normal) but this is such a wonderful gift enjoy the ride. Toni
