I have heard some do. I actually have a consult today with a plastic surgeon. If I find out anything today about insurances I will be sure to let you know! My gastric bypass surgeon though informed me since I have alot of rashes and she has been noting them that there is a good chance the insurance will pick up the surgery!

The only way is if you are having trouble with the extra skin cause problems with sores and repeat rashes that are very irritating. Other than that you have to pay for it.

YES if it is a medical necessity -- rashes --heavy and pulling on your muscles -- document EVERYTHING!!! go to your PCP for every little rash and pimple no matter how small of an issue you think it is -- let your PCP know that you need a paper trail to show medical necessity for skin breakdown -- the only thing it will not cover is a breast augmentation -- good luck -- and documentation is key here!! the more the better!!

Mine did. It was deemed medically necessary. I kept my physician informed of rashes etc... for a year due to the excess skin...and the insurance paid for my TT and my sisters TT and breast reduction... Good Luck.

Make sure you are going to your doctor to report rashes and get any kind of cream you can for it. It needs to be documented with your PCP so that when insurance checks it's documented and then MAYBE they will pay for it.
