Question:
Lap Band 7 months Post Op - slipped band
First I did self pay for LB surgery. Dr notes all indicate self pay on the procedure, even though hiatal hernia repair and GERD fundoplasty was paid by insurance and was done at same time as LB procedure. Now, I am 7 months out and have a slipped band. (Bad fish in hotel caused massive sick tummy including upchucking and diarhea. Went nearly 9 days to get in to see dr using xray and contrast to check the status. Had a (un)fill adjustment to allow more through for now. But need to have corrective procedure and hope that insurance will pay. Dr is working on the coding for this procedure to facilitate insurance. Anyone have this happen where you did self pay, and later had to have corrective procedure and the insurance did PAY. Any ideas, suggestions? Would love to hear from one and all on this. He is checking with other drs in the TX area on this. Thanks Ruby — MzCruse (posted on February 20, 2008)

Hi Ruby I have a question for you I had LB on 09/07 and I have had 4 fills
and on the 4th one I was eating meat and it just got stuck and I started
just throwing up about every few minuetes so I called the clinic where I
had the surgery done and she told me to get Adolphs Meat Tenderizer with
water to try and loosen up what may be stuck YUCK!!!!! and even now pretty
much no matter what I eat it either feels stuck or I throw up So what I'm
wondering is Is that what you felt like? The nurse did say that I may have
to go in and have the band checked to see how things are flowing but there
are 2-2 1/2 hours away from my home so I just tell them Yup I'm fine and
really I'm not the fill that started this was done on 1-17-08 and I was
suppose to have another on 2-21-08 but I cancelled that If you could tell
me what you felt like after that fish made you sick I would greatly
appreciate it :) Thank you
