Question:
I was wondering if anyone out there knows about a protien pill or if it

would even work for us with the amounts of protien where supposed to be getting in? I've been having a hard time with the shakes and the bars, the bars are just to big and the shakes either taste nasy or you have to mix in so much fluid that it takes for ever to finish! Suggestion's please!!!!!!!    — HAILEY (posted on July 17, 2006)

I had thought of this too because I'm in the same boat. You happen to be in luck: http://www.llorenspharm.com/PO_prot.htm I couldn't find a price anywhere. I researched it before and found it to be quite expensive. Google "protein pills" and I bet you can find some more. The one I've heard people talk about here is Proteinex and that's what the link is to. OH also has product reviews...maybe check that out. All I remember from researching it is the price. Maybe others have more info for you. Take care!

I have never found a protein mix I liked. I had surgery May 9 and am almost 10 weeks out tomorrow. I had my dr appt for my first set of labs last week and I told him I wasn't doing any shakes and he said as long as I'm getting protein in I should be okay. I can eat every type of meat there is plus I eat a lot of nuts, peanut butter, cheese and eggs to get it in. Just try to eat a lot of other things high in protein and you should be okay. You don't say how far you are but if you're eating bars then you should be able to eat other stuff high in protein. Good Luck!

I found Solgar Whey to go tablets- each tab is 11 gms protein- they recommend 9 tabs per day but if I take 3 with what I eat I am usually up to high 50's or mid 60's gms per day intake. They are huge- I tried cutting them in halves and quarters but the odd shapes made it difficult to swollow so I just chew them up- taste isn't great but the Isopure and shakes were worse. I got them through Vitamen Cottage.

I really, really hate to disagree or anything, but the Whey To Go tabs are 11gm per NINE tabs, not per tab. I would not have said anything, but I'd hate you to short change yourself with the "serving size" trick as I did early on. A good way to remember how much protein a pill can contain is to know that all whey powders measure 1/3 to 1/2 cup POWDER to reach 30g of protein. That depends on the flavor, exact details of the protein, but the least it would be is 1/3 C of powder, even for unflavored, un-messed-around-with Whey. That said, to the original questioner, what kind of shakes have you tried and how did you make them up? The one I use as my to go model gives me 30g in 4 oz of water. I prefer more like 8 oz, but I can do less if need be. I'm 12 yrs, do 180g protein in supps per day (6x30g), so have worked out a routine that works for me.
