Question:
Has anyone had h-pylori infection after surgery?
Has anyone experienced that nasty stomach infection called h-pylori after surgery? — S. Troxell (posted on April 4, 2006)

H-Pylori is a bacteria most commonly associated with ulcers of the stomach.
You will probably be tested for this prior to surgery. I was found to
have the anti-bodies to this, and was given a rather brutal dose of
anti-biotics, and an EGD to prevent any problems during the surgery. If
you are Post-Op and have h-pylori, I would suspect the treatment options
would be similar.

Hi! I have it now.... have had for 6 months... seems they cant get rid of
it... My symptoms are just a griping tummy but thats about it.... I have 2
hernies also... so either could be causing the tummy to feel upset... The
test is just blow in a bag small one... then drink a small dixie cup of
what taste like lemonade and then wait 15 minutes and then blow in another
bag and your ready to leave they will call you with the results.... Or they
may let you sit and wait for them as it is all done right there on the same
machine... it just reads positive or negitive.... then the Doc will give
you an Antibiotic that may cause a yeast infection.. that to me is worst
than the bacteria itself ..hope this helps

i was diagnosed 2x with h-pylori, so i went to a gastro Dr and had an
endoscope with biopsy... it seems that you can have a positive blood test
but NOT have h-pyloi after the first time, it just stays in your system.
Before you do antibiotics more than once, have it checked by a Gastro Dr,
you may be treating something you don't have anymore.
