Take a look at things like: are you eating and drinking at the same time?; are you drinking sodas?; are you eating gaseous foods (broccoli, cabbage, etc.)?; are eating a lot of refined carbs as opposed to high fiber carbs? Are you gulping your food down? Are you taking small bites? Are you chewing your food well? All of these things can cause burping, gas, bloating and possibly weight gain. I'm not an expert but its worth a try. Good luck. ~Pookie

Michael, It sounds like you are having some gastric. you probably need some Pepcid or Zantac. You have to much stomach acid. Since you have lost 100lbs. You yourself know how it is done you just need a push to get started. Get rid of junk food that has accumulated in your house and buy low carb. low fat foods. The best of luck to you. Hi Michael, I can so relate to your experience except the belching, I am 27 months Post-Op and lost 120lbs and my ideal weight was 180lbs which where my surgeon said I should end up but I never got there I got down to 200lbs and flucuated between 204lbs and 206lbs the last 9months or so and now I am at 216lbs so I've gaine about 10 to 12lbs and I feel horrible about that since I never got to my ideal. Acid reflux has returned and I am now back on medication. It's scary because I've heard the horror stories of those gaining almost all their weight back and I refuse to let that happen. I went too far to the extreme to get the lbs. off and I now need to find a way to keep them off. I am still not a big eater and never have been although I have managed to acquire a tolerance for some of the snack foods I used to eat at night due to stress and I'm getting scared. 12lbs after two years are not horrible and I keep telling myself that but GOD forbid if that 0 ends up at the end again I would die. I had slowed down on the gym and that's where I'm picking back up on I just wanted to share my experience with you and tell you to hang in there and start back at the beginning instructions in how to eat like we were told and maybe that will help along with exercise. I was told that I might gain a few lbs. Good Luck, Sharon

I think I can answer the problem with the Belching. A friend of mine that had the surgery had the same problem with constent Belching and they actually re-did the RNY surgery on her for a second time and it didnt work. They ended up giving her a medicine that helped post op patients with the constant hiccups It ended up that her Vagas nerve that goes from her brain thru her stomach was being irritated ever time she put something in and she said she took the meds the first time and it was gone. I can ask her what the medication is if you want. you can e-mail me directly [email protected] I hope this helps. Blessings Aimee

Hi, I'm about 21 months out too. With out knowing your diet, its hard to comment. But for me, I burp a lot when I eat things that my body can't process well...mostly bready type things (which I can eat because i don't dump in the traditional sense...I just get tired and burp a lot). Also, as far as drinking. If I drink too soon after eating or if I drink to fast I burp a lot. As far as weight gain. I lost 100lbs and bounce between 94-100lb loss depending on how careful I'm being with my eating. If I'm good about my protien first and getting 70grams of protien in a day, not drinking with meals and only eating healthy carbs...oh yes, and if I'm true to my workout program...I don't gain. Hope some of this helps.
