This sounds like one of two things to me. Either you are not getting enough protein or enough B Vitamins in your diet. Eitherway a blood test would be very helpful at this time. Your PCP can check for both and advise you from there. Call and make an appointment today!!!

Hey I hear you! I've been complaining about this to my doctor (and also the surgeon) since wls. I've never been so tired. I've had tests to check for B-12 (even had shots once a WEEK, not monthly). Iron, B-12, thyroild... all is ok except my testoserone is down. (Getting help on that now). But something is definately wrong. I too have depression... so I'm sure it is a mixed bag of problems with me. Don't give up! I've gotten close to the point were I have as I've tried for 4.5 years to find out what in heck is going on with no relief. I'm not sorry I've had wls, but I do think it will shorten my life. At least that is what I "physically" feel like. Keep trying. I will too. :)

Hi, if your blood tests are fine and your hormone levels are fine, then you need to look a little deeper. Also, wow, depression is very complicated. You may want to see a counselor. Oh, I'd like to lose another 15 lbs myself, but I still look ok. I am beginning to accept myself as I am. Nevery got a tummy tuck, but some day.. maybe. Keep us posted ok? huugzz

I don't think diet pills are the answer. My partner went through the same and she went to the VA and the doctor at first gave her those prenatal vitamin pills that they give pregnant women and they also did a blood test on her which came back normal. She returned like 6 months later and they found her to be aneimic and the doctor put her on iron pills --she's doing a lot better and not feeling as tired. Evidently there are a lot of things that come with having this surgery that we are all finding out about little by little. Congrats on the weight loss and looking 10 years younger -- you go!

Definitely have your blood levels checked. I have been taking liquid B Complex (b-12) from Target and it is unbelievable how much more energy I have!

There are several deficiencies you could be experiencing, and they could cause depression, especially vit D, for example. Protein, iron and the b-vites leap to mind. I'd feel better if you were talking to other long termers who have battled with these issues. Here's the link: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG

Sandra, First off Do not get stuck on diet pills. You don't need them. Go back to your rules of th pouch only eat 3 mills a day & no snacks & the weight will stay off. @nd, I just had my 19 months check-up & found that my iron levels are very low & he has put me on iron pills twice a-day till they are back up. Please have blood work done, if they are normal they need to be a little higher for wls patients. My iron levels were down to 7 & normal is 10, so I am close to being anemic. Most likely your B vits are very low as well. What kind of Vitamins are you taking now? Do you drink Protein shakes at all? just curious e-mail me directly if you want & I will help you out if I can. I would go with the low iron, that is what I have experienced, even severe dizziness that an eye ear nose doc could not figure out---you need at last 325mg iron sulfate to feel okay. YOu can get it over the counter at walmart and also Folic acid. I am 2.5 yrs out and I have not been consistent with my iron intake and I was cancelled for a hysterectomy because my iron was so low so now I have to take Lupron injections to stop my bleeding and increase my iron so maybe I will be able to get it in a month. But yeah, start with the extra iron and folic acid and see if that helps make a difference.

Hi.I'm always tired no matter how much sleep I get. I'm pre-op and don't know anything yet on the after effects of surgery, but was wondering if you ever considered sleep apnea as a problem. I just found out that I have it. I had a sleep study done and found out that I woke up 50 times in 2 hours! Generally, wieght is a major contributor to this and you've eliminated that (congratulations on that!) but there are other causes such as sinus troubles and a deviated septum(spelling?) Anyhow, thought you may want to try that if all else fails.Best of luck to you!!! Lisa
