In Little Rock, AR the self-pay cost is just under $15,000.00 and we have
excellent surgeons including one who is a pioneer of the roux-n-y and has
done over 7,500 with no leaks and three deaths. He has trained all the
others in the state. People from all over the country come here for this.
Hope this helps. If you need furthur info e-mail me. Erin

I paid $17,500 for the surgery in Richmond, Virginia. I had to pay the
full amount when I pre-registered at the hospital 2 weeks before surgery.
In additon I had to pay for the consultation with the surgeon, an abdominal
ultrasound, psych consult, and the barium leak test. I documented most of
those additional costs in my profile. I don't think I listed the barium
leak test, the cost of that was $90. If you have any questions about it,
feel free to email me from my profile.

I see you also asked for the surgeon, I used Dr. Elizabeth Martin (
http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/forums/?ID=TR-996368919 )from
Commonwealth Surgeons. My surgery was done Lap. The price of the surgery
is the same for lap or open. Dr. Hutcher (
http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/forums/index.phtml?ID=TR-k104 )
who is in the same practice as Dr. Martin does the surgery open. Dr.
Hutcher has been doing these surgeries forever, and is very well respected
in the field, that is why I went to his practice, Commonwealth Surgeons,
but chose Dr. Martin instead of him since he doesn't do the surgery Lap. I
am so glad I chose her, she is awesome! Very easy to talk to and she makes
you very comfortable. She takes time for any questions you may have.
