On two seperate subjects... One thing everyone was 'taught' pre op was
'dont' eat unless your hungry' After WLS this rule should NOT be
followed... Alot of people, especially first off feel no hunger... so to
get in your nutrition, you need to 'eat' planned meals.
two... so my question is.. did you go from 25 - 40 oz to 3 to 5 oz because
you 'didnt' feel like drinking? or cause you COULDNT DRINK... - big
difference. If you are physically unable to drink, could be you are in the
process of developing a stricture (the closing of the stoma) if this is
true, the doctor will do an endocopy and open it up.. out patient.. no big
deal.

JENNIFER, You appear to be doing everything right with regards to protein
& fluids. But I can tell you one day you will be able to drink or eat
and the next day you're lucky if you can get a teaspoon down. I'm 51 days
Post-Op and I still have the same problem. Funny thing is my brain says I
can eat more but my stomach decides - which is usually a few spoons at a
time. Amazingly I had about a 1/2 cup of beef stew (I did not eat any
meat) yesterday. I was surprized that I was able to eat that much before I
got full. I find it hard to get all my water, my protein and some food in
each day - so each day is a new adventure, but I try my best.
