I would think you would have to. But all the paperwork you have already is a plus. However, Cigna is not paying for WLS in SOME states. You need to talk to someone at Cigna or your surgeons office and find out if your state will still pay. I know Cigna in GA does still pay. Good luck to you. ~Sidney~ OPen RNY 10-23-02 down 130+ and under goal

If you already know BX will pay, you may want to take it out on cobra till you have surgery, or at least until you know if Cigna will cover it. To answer your question, yes you will need to start the process over again, but you do have alot of things on your side. You have already done most of it...it's just a matter of submitting it someplace different.

I have Cigma HMO Georgia. They do require with regards to supervised weight loss attempts. Per Ashley in the Precert department, they require documentation that you have participated in 2 professionally supervised diets with monthly weigh-ins, each lasting at least 26 weeks, with at least one occurring in the past 12 months. We can discuss this in more detail on Monday, but I wanted to pass the word along. Diane

Beware! Cigna can be quite difficult to work with and unfortunately, as in my case will no longer cover wls. They are getting tougher all the time and when they do cover they will not budge on the supervised diet. Good luck.
