WHY AM I JUMPING THRU HOOPS HERE.EVERYTIME I TURN THE CORNER SOMTHING ELSE HAPPENS??????    — WENDY W. (posted on November 8, 2003)

Wendy....don't look at these postponements as a sign for you not to have this surgery....look at them as a way of pushing you to the exact time that would be {{perfect}} for you to have this surgery!!! It's all about perspective and a positive attitude!! :-) In love & light, LisaF

I saw in your profile that you have congestive heart failure. Maybe that is why your doctor is being more cautious about your surgery than with your sister. It sounds like you are very ambivalent about having surgery. Ask yourself where your doubts are coming from. Are you having doubts about the surgeon's skill? If so, by all means, switch to someone who you feel at ease with. Are you scared by the risks of the RNY? In that case, you may want to consider the lap-band, which is safer, or remind yourself that MOST people who get the RNY do make it through surgery without any terrible problems. Is it just the whole idea of surgery that scares you? In that case, you may just want to remind yourself that the consequences of staying morbidly obese can be very scary too. Weight loss is probably your best chance of avoiding the very serious consequences of congestive heart failure. Imagine how scary it would be if you didn't lose weight and needed a heart transplant in a few years. I know that this is a hard decision to go through, but I wish you the best of luck. You are the only one who can decide if you're ready for this or not.

Wendy, The best advice I can give you is to make sure you're 100% sure that this is what YOU want to do. If you're not 100% at peace, then start thinking through some basic questions: Is WLS for you? If so, then are you sure you've chosen the surgery you are sure is going to work out the best for you? Go through the different types of surgery and decide if you're 100% sure you're happy with the choice you've made. Think through what you know about your surgeon, and decide if he's who you want a life-long relationship with. Use this time as a time of reflection - then, if you come away 100% sure that this is the right time, the right surgery, the right surgeon - then go for it! Blessings, dina
