Thats normal Gary. I was told that it is caused from blood that was in the
digestive tract during surgery. It will go away in just a few days. Good
luck to you and congratulations on your recent surgery!!<br>

Yes that's normal. I just had surgery two months ago and for the first few
days mine was black and runny ( sorry to be graphic!!) Dont be surprised
if you cough up a little bit of old blood the first couple of days too, I
did.

Hi Gary~ It is normal to have black stools after surgery. Blood turns black
when it is old, so if it is from your stomch, it takes time to go thru your
system, and it turns black. If it turns red, then you are bleeding from a
lower site, somewhere in the lower intestine.n So, don't panic.
