I love spinich, green beans, broccoli and asparagas.... but I have been afraid to try them!! I am 6 weeks post-op and have been on regular foods for 3 weeks with no problems at all. Hi. I am five weeks post-op and I have tried broccoli and since there is no better way to say this, broccoli gave me gas really bad LOL I kept it down though so I guess that all that counts, right? :)

I started eating asparagus (canned) at 4 weeks. I ate spinach earlier than that and broccoli after 6 weeks. I didn't have problems with any of them. But remember, broccoli causes a lot of gas in most people.

Hi, At 4 weeks I started eating a lot of vegetables. I cooked them in chicken broth until they were really soft, almost mushy. I used carrots, onions, brocoli etc. I had no problem. Now I can even them raw (4/12 months)and usually just steam them normally. I also cooked asparagus until it was much softer than I used to and it was OK too. Good luck

Soft, boiled broccoli with cheese sauce is the best!! Green beans, the canned ones, cut up into little segments with some butter and salt, and spinach are all good healthy choices. I have been eating green beans and broccoli since about 3 weeks post op, and have recently had some fresh baby spinach in a salad, all with no problems. Remember to chew well, enjoy the taste and eat slowly, and you will be fine. Hugs, Kim S. Open RNY Nov. 4/02 (-66)

Spinach - I can tolerate that raw and put it in my salads freely. Green beans I can keep down if I overcook them. Overcooked is better than nothing but I am hoping that improves. Sadly, I cannot yet (13months out)keep broccoli down no matter how I prepare it, how long I cook it or what part of it I eat. It just comes back up on me. It was my favorite vegetable and I miss it alot. I am allergic to asparagus so I can't comment on that. For what it is worth, I do very well with root vegetables. carrots, rutabaga, turnips, parsnips, beets all work wwell for me. Go figure.

I have been able to eat every vegetable, cooked or raw, since about 6 to 8 weeks out (minus nasty skins, of course). I try and eat three servings of green veggies every day when possible. My hair and skin are wonderful! Down 101 pounds in less than 6 months - woohoo!

Creamed spinach was among the first veggies I tried at about 3 weeks post-op. Broccoli and asparagus came at about 6 weeks.
