Question:
Has anyone out there post-op lost more weight after a couple of years?
I had WLS almost 3 yrs. ago and I got about 20 lbs from goal weight,then started going back to my old eating habits and stopped exercising and in ayr and half have gained back 40 lbs.I have been exercising the last couple of weeks and lost 12lbs,so now I have 28 lbs to go to get down to my lowest weight I got at.Please no lectures and don't say mean things to me.I know what I did wrong.Everyone here has had a problem with food and knows how hard old habits are to change.Has anyone ever relost any regained weight after a couple of years and then went on to get to their goal weight?I am so depressed over this.Please respond.Thanks. n — A L. I am not post op yet so i cannot answer your question. but, I think you
just need a little reassurance because it sounds like you are losing again
and I think that is GREAT!

I just met a women who had surgery 30 years ago. She had gained back a lot
and just in the last year re-lost 150 pounds!!!! She said her tool still
works it was the cheating that made her gain. So it can be done! Good

I was quoted a statistic by my surgeon pre-op, and that was, that years
after surgery, most post-ops gain 10 percent back of what they lost. That
is the norm. What is good about what you are doing is recognizing why you
have gained back 40 pounds, instead of gaining back all your weight and
ignoring the problem like some do. The tool is still there. And by
exercising and losing 12 pounds, you know what you need to do. Your right,
it is easy in the beginning. Now it is harder. But I think you can
continue to lose all the regained weight. Look at the great start you
have! Your taking control and not letting the food control you. Just try to
work the pouch. Increase the protein, small and frequent meals, lots of
water, watch the snacking. Good luck.

Hi A:
I want to congratulate you on nipping your weight gain in the bud after 40
pounds, and for already losing 12. Anyone on this site who would criticize
you for this is not only insensitive and annoying, but must have forgotten
where they came from. How can you honestly have weighed 200-500 pounds and
suddenly lose weight and become holier-than-thou when someone has a problem
with WEIGHT. I am only 3 months postop, but can understand old habits
coming back in the future. You have caught this before anymore damage was
done, and I think you are to be applauded. You definitely know the right
things to do. It is already working. Good luck and keep up the good
work.
