Question:
How do you get your weight loss to get going again

I have lost 5lbs. and stopped how can i get it back on track. It has been slow as it is at first I wasn't eating anything and now sometimes I feel like I can eat to much this scares me I don't want to fail at this. Please anyone who can help me. And what do 4mther's eat for a snack to curve those cravings at nite?    — CECILIA P. (posted on August 1, 2002)

Hi. Don't worry, sometimes it takes a little while for your body to understand what's going on. If your were not eating anything at first, your body might have thought you where starving. When your body thinks it's starving, it holds on to as much entery as it possibly can, causing your weight loss to be slow. It also slows down your matabolism to almost nothing. If you want to get back on track then don't skip meals. Drink water and eat. That way your body knows that your not starving and won't hold on to extra entery (or fat). At night when I want a little snack, I eat some yogert or I eat some fruit. It really hit the spot. As for the eating too much, you didn't give an example of how much your eating at one sitting and how long it takes you to eat it, but you are not the only one who thinks that. Almost everyone at one time or another thinks they can eat too much. Just eat slowly and listen to your body. Then think about how much you would have eaten before surgery. Feel better? I hope this has helped. Good luck to you and keep that chin up!

Exercise, exercise, exercise! I just posted a question the other day about my first plateau since my second month (I am 5.5 monts out now). All of a sudden I had only dropped about 2 pounds in over two weeks and I was very dismayed. In fact, I thought I had reached the end and that was all I was going to lose. I had also realized that I slacked off on my once consistent exercise routine. So, the last couple of days I started walking almost three miles each (and keep in mind we are having a heat wave here in NY) and bamn! I dropped another two pounds in only two days. I have learned my lesson...the hard part is using that lesson learned! But, I have lost a lot fast and I truly beleive it is because of my dilligence in exercising for those first five months. For your next question: I always have needed something sweet at night. Now I find a little bit of watermelon is a good snack or a spoonful of Simnply Jif (low sugar) peanut butter. I find a little PB goes a long way (maybe b/c it gets stuck in my chest). :) Don't worry, you are going to lose more. Good luck to you!
