Question:
2ND INS CO DENIED..HAVEN'T HEARD FROM PRIMARY YET...

I HAVE TWO INSURANCE CO PRIMARY IS CIGNA PPO AND 2ND IS UNITED HEALTHCARE PPO .. TODAY I GOT A LETTER FROM U/HEALTHCARE THAT THEY HAVE DENIED MY REQUEST FOR SURGEY..I HAVE NOT YET HEARD FROM CIGNA SHOULD I BE WORRIED THAT CIGNA WILL DENIE ME TOO ? AND IF CIGNA APPROVES WILL U/HEALTHCARE CHANGE THERE MINDS ? THANKS..    — GINA B. (posted on July 12, 2002)

Don't worry yet. I know several people who have had it approved by Cigna. You can always appeal United. Don't worry...it's hard - but I would wait it out. Good Luck, Pam

Hi I have cigna hmo and I just found out that am going to see a surgeon which means am approved I have a case manger kathy mercer who is working on the money amount to get approved. I didnt really have any problems and they didn't even require a 6 month supervised diet program. I simply turned in letters from phych, dietician, personal trainer and diet history personal history, family history physcal exam notes blood work and past medical records from all the years I was over weight which was huge amount. I had my doubts that I would of never made it this far but CIGNA will suprise you. I see my doctor on aug 23 2002 at standford medical center she does minimall invasive surgery which means I will be geting LAP WLS . She requires me to get a upper endoscopy and she did ask if I ever took phen phen and if I did that requires cardiac ultrasound but I will not have to do that.
